Projects > Mountain Pine Beetle Impact Mapping

Caslys is working with the Forest Practices Branch of the Ministry of Forests and Range to develop a series of multi-temporal map layers depicting: the current age of the pine forest; recent harvest activity and burn areas; the rate of expansion of mountain pine beetle affected forest; and site productivity. The various data layers are integrated to identify and prioritize sites for reforestation as part of the Forests for Tomorrow initiative. In addition, a series of analyses have been generated to estimate shelf life impacts and to identify opportunities for: timber harvest; reforestation and silviculture; and bioenergy.
